The Oklahoma State baseball team kept its season alive one game longer with an NCAA Tournament win over Georgia on Sunday. They’ll now advance to the regional final to face Duke.

The Bulldogs, meanwhile, will pack their bags for the offseason. They were handed an early exit despite being the host team.

Georgia entered the opening round of the postseason as one of 16 one-seeds. That gave them the opportunity to play in Athens with a super regional appearance on the line.

Unfortunately, it wouldn’t happen. The homefield advantage played no role. The ‘Dawgs went 1-2 and will now watch two visitors play for regional title.

Georgia won its opening game on Friday against Binghamton before falling to Duke in Game 2. They faced elimination on Sunday but appeared to have thing under control after overcoming an early deficit.

Oklahoma State jumped out to a 3-0 lead before Georgia answered with seven straight runs. Three of those runs came off the bat of slugger Slate Alford.

Alford his two home runs on the afternoon. After his first bomb, he taunted the Cowboys‘ dugout.

He stopped short in his celebration the second time around, though the response was yet another sign of disrespect.

Oklahoma State baseball served Georgia a dose of karma.

The Cowboys dug themselves out of a 7-3 hole before allowing Georgia to retake the lead in the seventh inning. The score sat at 9-7 when Oklahoma State started its final at-bat. Some would say what happened next was karmic.

OSU’s Kollin Richie tied the game with a two-run blast in the bottom of the ninth. It was an absolute no-doubter.

His teammate then finished the job a few batters later.

Brock Thompson stepped into the box with a runner on and two outs. He turned on an 0-1 pitch and smacked it to the opposite field. The shot cleared the left field fence to give the Cowboys an 11-9 win. Athens went silent.

Oklahoma State ended Georgia’s baseball season after being disrespected by Slate Alford. They’ll now play in the Bulldogs’ ballpark with a chance to advance to the super regional.

UGA, meanwhile, will make the short walk back home to campus. The bat flip antics backfired miserably!
