Oklahoma State Coach Mike Gundy Forced To Change Press Conference After Getting Headbutted By Cow

There are few, if any, coaches in college football that are more charismatic and at times bizarre than Oklahoma State’s Mike Gundy.

You never know what you’re going to get from Gundy when you stick a mic in his face. Maybe it’s his legendary “I’m a man, I’m 40” quote. Maybe he’ll admit to driving under the influence several times, or maybe he’ll stop the press conference to take on the role of a repair man.

But Monday’s press conference may have been Gundy’s strangest yet. The second-longest tenured coach in FBS football was supposed to meet with the media in person. But he was forced to change his plans after one of cows on his ranch headbutted him over the weekend, leaving him feeling dizzy.

Mike Gundy Couldn’t Meet With Media Members Because He Got Assaulted By A Cow

“I had a little run-in with my cattle over the weekend. And I guess they’ve been watching us play and I got headbutted,” Gundy said when asked why the press conference was held virtually. “So I’ve got a bad eye that I didn’t think would be particularly enjoyable for people when they were looking at my pretty face in a live interview. But more importantly, it’s full of blood and I get dizzy. So it’s not easy to be upright and be at a normal function.”

Well, okay then!

On one hand, Gundy appears to take the Oklahoma State Cowboys name incredibly literally. But on the other, that can’t be good when the Pokes are supposed to be preparing for 6-0 BYU on Saturday.

Can he still attend practice? How much coaching can he do? Did he headbutt the cow back?

These are just some of the many questions I now have for Mike Gundy.

Oklahoma State entered the year ranked No. 17 in the AP Poll and with College Football Playoff aspirations. It’s since slipped out of the polls entirely at 3-3 and is already 0-3 in the conference.

So this appears to be the topper on the s— sandwich that is OK State’s 2024 season.
