The Ole Miss Rebels have added a new opponent to their 2025 home football schedule. Washington State will come to Oxford next season to play an out of conference matchup, making the Rebs’ 12-game slate complete once again.

Previously, Wake Forest had been expected to complete the second game of a home-and-home series with Ole Miss after the squads battled in North Carolina earlier this year.

After being blown out 40-6 last month, however, the Demon Deacons bailed!

Wake Forest hosted Ole Miss in September, and quickly realized they wanted nothing to do with a rematch. In that two-game series opener, the Rebels jumped out to a 20-3 first quarter lead and never looked back.

The Demon Deacons broke their agreement shortly after the game ended, paying out $750,000 for the cancellation. Lane Kiffin called out their cowardice after the fact.

“These guys called over this week and (Wake Forest AD John) Currie said we’re not playing you guys next year and bought out of the game. What makes it worse is (he) does it after we play at their place.”

It wouldn’t take long for the program to find a replacement!

Ole Miss will host Washington State next year.

It will represent the Cougars‘ first game against an SEC foe since they played Auburn in 2013. While Wazzu would go on to lose that matchup, 31-24, the visitors enjoyed themselves!

Reports of Washington State fans drinking Auburn bars dry surfaced the day before the contest was played.

The fanbase is one that is known for its ability to consume copious amounts of alcohol.

The year prior, they emptied an airplane’s liquor stock while making a trip to Las Vegas to play UNLV. Their drinking knows no bounds!

The SEC is notorious for its tailgating, with The Grove in Oxford being one of the top pregame spots in all of college football. Those looking to invite the opposition to the party better make sure they come fully stocked!
