TCU lost to Utah in women’s college basketball in large part because of Olivia Miles. However, the Horned Frogs were only in the game against the Utes for as long as they were because of Olivia Miles.
It is something of a Catch-22, or whatever you ant to call it.
One of the best players in women’s college basketball is just as big of a defensive liability as she is an offensive weapon. The fifth-year senior also cussed out her teammates because they did not get her the ball.
TCU women’s basketball lost to Utah.
There may not be as many compelling storylines in women’s hoops this season as in years past but there is still as much talent! Olivia Miles is just one example.
The former five-star recruit transferred from Notre Dame to TCU during back in April.
She currently averages 19.3 points per game as the nation’s 27th leading scorer. The Horned Frogs entered the weekend ranked No. 13 in the country at 14-0.
The lost on Saturday.
Utah came back during the second half to force overtime. The Utes out-paced the visitors at home during the extra period to win by 10, 88-77.
Miles shot 50% from the field to finish as the game’s leading scorer with 31 points. She also recorded seven rebounds and three assists. It was an all-word offensive performance.

Olivia Miles is currently on pace to be the first D-I basketball player (men’s or women’s) since the turn of the century to average at least 19.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, 7.0 assists and 2.0 steals per game in a single season. Her offensive talent cannot be understated.
With that being said, Miles was directly responsible for at least 21 points against Utah on the defensive end— in large part because of her off-ball positioning. It was a truly awful performance on defense.
Olivia Miles threw a tantrum.
Not only did Miles allow Utah to score at will, she cussed at her teammates for trying to play offense without her. TCU brought the ball up the court and committed a turnover.
Miles’ frustration was caught on camera. She said: “Get me the f—— ball!”

Imagine if this was someone else, like, say, Angel Reese? The criticism would set the internet on fire!
Perhaps Olivia Miles got away with her behavior because, if we’re being honest, the casual women’s hoops fans either do not know who she is, do not care, did not watch, or all three. Perhaps she got away with her behavior because, if we’re being honest, she is right.
The Horned Frogs will go as far as Miles can take them on offense. Get her the ball!
