Eurosport announcer Bob Ballard will not be spending the summer in Paris for the Olympics as planned.
Over the weekend, Ballard found himself in hot water after he was accused of making a sexist remark following team Australia winning the women’s 4×100-meter freestyle relay.
Here’s what Ballard said while everyone was waiting for the medal ceremony to take place.
“Well the women are just finishing up. You know what women are like … hanging around, doing their makeup”
Ballard was immediately removed from Eurosport’s Olympic telecast over the comment.

“During a segment of Eurosport’s coverage last night, commentator Bob Ballard made an inappropriate comment, To that end, he has been removed from our commentary roster with immediate effect.”
Ballard released a statement on social media after getting fired by Eurosport.

The comments I made during the Australian freestyle relay victory ceremony on Saturday have caused some offence. It was never my intention to upset or belittle anyone and, if I did, I apologise. I am a massive advocate of women’s sport.
