The NFL Draft this weekend offered a slight glimmer of hope that *maybe* the sports landscape as we know it will return to normal.
Maybe.
Someday.
On Saturday afternoon, however, in a late round of the draft, fans watching at home were were thrown for a curveball in the middle of the broadcast:
A OneRepublic performance of their commercial bubblegum pop anthem “Better Days”, right before the Philadelphia Eagles elected Auburn OT Prince Tega Wanogho as the 210th pick of 2020 NFL Draft.

Talk about uncertain times!
This moment of extremely overproduced television seemed very out of the blue and unnecessary, irking many for ruining an otherwise delightful NFL Draft, considering the circumstances.

Who is this One Republic performance for? We’re in the 6th round of the draft. All you have left are the crazies, the diehards and The journalists. Not a single one of them wants to hear shitty music.

One Republic performing Better Days is a perfect summation of everything that has sucked about this year's draft presentation

On what planet is ESPN living that they think the people watching the 6th round of the NFL Draft want to see a musical interlude from OneRepublic?

Seriously @espn, we’re in the 6th round of the NFL Draft, you’re behind on the pick-by-pick analysis, and now you have One Republic playing music. Everyone still watching now are football fans. Stop playing music.

Feel bad for Prince Tega Wanogho. He’s going to have to listen to a One Republic concert whenever he wants to look back at the moment his dream came true of being drafted into the NFL.

Can we all agree to keep OneRepublic out of football season this year? Let’s keep it to segment bumper music in the broadcast.
