Oregon State and Washington State are caught somewhere between three different conferences as partial members of the West Coast Conference while the Pac-12 slowly absorbs the Mountain West. As a result, the Beavers and Cougars are playing their college basketball games on a court with two different logos.

This is perhaps something we will never see again, so it is important to appreciate the oddity while it exists.

Oregon State and Washington State, for those who don’t know, were completely left out of major conference realignment moves over the last few years. USC, Oregon, UCLA and Washington bolted to the Big Ten. Arizona, Colorado Arizona State, and Utah bounced to the Big 12. Cal and Stanford joined the ACC.

Only two teams remain as full-time members of the Pac-12 Conference during the 2024-25 academic year. The Beavers are one. The Cougars are another the other.

However, Boise State, Colorado State, Fresno State, Utah State, Gonzaga and San Diego State are on the way. All six universities will officially join the Pac-12 in 2026.

In the meantime, Oregon State and Wazzu are honorary members of the West Coast Conference for the next two years in every sport except football. That obviously includes college basketball. Both programs will play conference games against Santa Clara, LMU, Portland, San Francisco, Pacific, etc. during the 2024-25 and 2025-26 seasons.

With this unique agreement underway, the Beavers are playing on a court that reflects their identity crisis. Both the Pac-12 logo and the WCC logo are featured on the hardwood.

Same with the Cougars!

The unique court layout makes sense. Oregon State and Washington State are technically the only remaining members of the Pac-12 while also members of the WCC. A logical explanation for the mismatched logos does not take away from the oddity. This will presumably cease be the case when the Pac-12 returns to eight teams in 2026 so be sure to appreciate the rare court while you can!
