Georgia has officially turned the page from football to college basketball. The Stegeman Coliseum was absolutely rocking on Tuesday night when sixth-ranked Kentucky rolled into town.
Wildcats star Otega Oweh made the mistake of mocking the raucous environment, which looks incredibly foolish considering the current status of the SEC and the final score.
As things stand, nine teams in the Southeastern Conference are ranked inside the Top 25. Even the worst team in the conference per the current college basketball standings, LSU, could make a run to March Madness. The league has never been this competitive. 10 teams made the NCAA Tournament last season and it will be the same or more come Selection Sunday in March.
Fanbases in the SEC are invigorated by the hot start. Students are packing the gyms for every home game, regardless of opponent, and arenas are selling out for SEC play. Georgia was not the exception.

Georgia took a 13-point lead into halftime against Kentucky. Its dominant first half had the coliseum on a level it has not reached in years— if ever.

The incredible scene at the Coliseum is what makes Oweh’s attempted chirp invalid. He turned to his opponents, while standing at the free throw line, and told them “this y’all’s Super Bowl.”

Kentucky lost by 13. Georgia now has a better record in the SEC and overall.
For Otega Oweh to imply that the Bulldogs will not have a bigger game or better atmosphere this season before a double-digit loss in said game, in said environment is brutal. His quip would’ve landed if the Wildcats won against a bad team. Rather, every team in the SEC is good and the environment at Stegeman Coliseum is going to be just as intense over the next eight weeks!
