Popular golf influencer Paige Spiranac recently shared a new video on YouTube in which she reveals tip on how to prepare for a tournament.

She has “a big competitive golf event” coming up in about a month and is starting to prepare for it, so she decided to share some of the tips and tricks she uses to get ready.

Among the topics Paige Spiranac covers in the video are flighting wedges, how to find the center of your club face, working on consistency in putting, and other swing tips and drills to help get in tournament shape.

One of the nice things about the tips that she offers is that she, like most people out there, has a busy schedule and doesn’t have a lot of free time to get ready for a tournament so the things she suggests aren’t big time eaters.

One of the first things Paige Spiranac explains in the video is that about four weeks before a golf tournament is a good time to start working on your technique.

“You never want to work on your technique really close to an event or a situation where you need to play under pressure because you have too many swing thoughts in your head,” she advises.

Spiranac then added, “At the driving range I like to give myself about 30 minutes to an hour. Sometimes more if I have the time and I’m really working on something, but you don’t need to spend hours on the driving range. You just need to work smart and work on the right things.”

She also explained what working on flighting shots means.

“When you flight a shot, you bring the trajectory down and this is really important because it helps you with distance control and also with controlling spin,” Paige explains. “Most people think with their wedges that they want to hit them really high in the air and that’s how it’s going to spin and stop on the green. And when you’re watching the professionals play and hit their wedges, you might notice that their swing is really compact and they’re really controlling their spin and their distances and the ball flight is a lot lower.”

Spiranac then demonstrates exactly how to do just that.

Several swing tips and drills and what to do to get your putting in tournament shape later, Paige Spiranac explains that by following this preparation program you will be “making small changes here and there.” That, in turn, as she describes, “helps me just stay focused in on what I’m doing and it doesn’t make the event seem as scary when I know that I am working on the right things.”

It sounds like Paige Spiranac will be dropping videos like this each week until the golf tournament occurs so check back on her YouTube channel to see what else she suggests you do in the lead-up to an event.
