Popular golf influencer Paige Spiranac is back with another one of her special instructional videos. This week she reveals how to properly use a driving range.

This is the latest in her ongoing “Just the Basics” series that she posts every Tuesday which she appears to have changed the name of it to “The Beginner’s Guide to Starting Golf.”

Topics covered in her series have previously included things like what to do on your first visit to a golf course, how to look and feel your best on the golf course, and what to bring to the golf course.

“Practicing on the driving range for the first time can be intimidating! Here’s everything you need to know to get started,” Paige Spiranac writes in the description to her latest YouTube video.

“I recommend going to the range and learning the game there instead of going out on the golf course you can use the range to practice at any time during the day,” she explains at the beginning of the lesson.

“When you get to the driving range, you’re going to see all of these targets out there,” Paige continues. “And this is a great way to see how far you’re actually hitting your clubs.

“This is very personalized. So how far I hit my eight iron, you might hit farther or shorter and that is totally okay. You just want to know how far you hit it so when you’re out on the golf course and you have 150 yards to the pin you know exactly that, okay, that is my seven iron, my five iron, my nine iron, whatever it may be. So utilizing those targets in the distance is going to be your best friend when trying to find how far you hit each club.”

Paige Spiranac also pointed out in the video that “most golf courses actually don’t like when you chip on the putting green because it can potentially mess up those greens,” so she recommends either asking if it is okay to do or if the course has a designated practice chipping green. If they don’t allow it and don’t have a designated practice chipping green, the driving range is where you should be practicing your chipping.
