Golf influencer Paige Spiranac is back in her continuing effort to try and grow the game in her very unique and very popular way.

Every week for the past few months, Paige Spiranac has been sharing videos on her YouTube channel as part of what she calls her “Beginner’s Guide to Starting Golf.”

Previous episodes have centered on basics like your first visit to a golf course, how to look and feel your best while there, and what to bring with you the first time you go golfing.

In this week’s edition of her beginner’s guide to golf, Paige Spiranac writes, “You only need four clubs to start golfing! When you’re starting out, don’t worry about getting a lot of expensive clubs. Start with these four then add and upgrade as you improve.”

To start out, Spiranac lets her viewers take a look at what golf clubs she keeps in her bag. Or, well, she says she is going to let viewers take a look in her bag, but then never actually does it.

“I want to stress that you don’t need this full setup right away,” Paige says while not showing any of the actual setup.

“I like to tell new golfers that you only really need four clubs. You need a wedge, and we’re going to talk all about this more later because I’m sure you’re like, ‘Paige, what’s a wedge? We’re starting out. I have no idea what you’re talking about.’ So we’re going to get into that. [She doesn’t.]

“You’re going to need a wedge. I like an eight or a seven iron, a putter and a driver, which we’re gonna talk about in a second. [She didn’t.]

“And you don’t need to invest in getting custom clubs right away, which I’m a huge advocate for getting equipment that really fits your game, but when you’re first starting out, you don’t need all of that because you’re just getting used to the motion and swinging and seeing what you like and what you dislike.

“So starting out you can get four clubs,” Spiranac continued. “You can go to a store and get secondhand. Sometimes you can even ask your friends to borrow some of their clubs because, again, they don’t invest in good clubs, so they’re probably throwing them to the side and you can borrow them for free.”

Not sure exactly what she meant there at the end, but, yes, borrowing golf clubs from someone when you are just starting out is definitely the way to go before making any big purchases.

If you enjoyed that and/or managed to learn something new about the game of golf, Paige Spiranac has also shared videos on how to use a driving range and the different types of grass and hazards on a golf course that you also might find entertaining and/or educational.
