A painter is suing Bill Belichick for almost $300,000, claiming he suffered “serious bodily injuries” while working at the coach’s home. The painter claims that “dangerous and unsafe” working conditions caused the injuries.
A limited liability company, Forty Five Fair Street LLC, registered to the head football coach at the University of North Carolina, manages the home in Nantucket, Mass.
According to the Nantucket Current, the painter who is suing Belichick for damages claims that on June 21, 2024, he was working on Bill Belichick’s property at 45 Fair Street. He claims that unsafe conditions, such as “the placement, use, and/or maintenance of plastic sheeting or coverings and other unsafe site conditions in the work area,” caused him to slip and fall while working.
The painter claims the injuries have caused him ‘mental anguish’
“As a direct and proximate result of the fall, plaintiff sustained serious bodily injuries including a severe right ankle injury, together with pain, disability, medical expenses, lost wages, and other consequential damages,” the lawsuit claims.
It also claims, “As a direct and proximate result of defendant’s negligence, plaintiff has suffered and continues to suffer bodily injury, physical pain and suffering, mental anguish and emotional distress, medical expenses, lost wages and impairment of earning capacity, loss of function and enjoyment of life, and such other damages as may be proven at trial.”
The painter seeks compensatory damages that the court will determine at trial. He also requests pre-judgment and post-judgment interest as allowed by law, costs of suit, and any other relief that the court deems “just and proper.” The painter has already received workers’ compensation benefits through his employer/subcontractor’s insurance.
Bill Belichick purchased the 2,854-square-foot property in May 2024 for $4.84 million, according to Boston.com. The home’s listing describes it is a four-bed, four-and-a-half-bath home “situated on a quiet street in the heart of downtown,” that “is a testament to classic elegance and modern sophistication.”
