Former four-star offensive lineman Patrick Kutas signed with the Arkansas football program in the class of 2022. At the time, he was a big get for the Razorbacks, who were looking to elevate themselves in the SEC.
He played largely in a special teams role as a freshman, appearing in 13 games. He started nine games as a sophomore last year before being injured.
This season, he again found himself in the starting lineup briefly throughout the season. With that being said, he apparently relayed his desire to redshirt to head coach Sam Pittman. Pittman agreed!
Kutas suffered a back injury prior to the ’24 campaign that kept him sidelined throughout the beginning of the year. Pittman wanted to get him back in the lineup, but ultimately respected the lineman’s wishes.
“I have a plan to play him four games. We’re trying to play him on Saturday (against Ole Miss), and that’ll be two and then we’ll try to figure it out. The deal that we talked about was he wanted to redshirt. I said, ‘Hey, now we ain’t trying to redshirt you for somebody else.’ He said, ‘No, coach. I would never. I’m a Hog. I want to be here.’
“He kind of lost that freshman year on special teams. This would be our way of getting it back.”

Patrick Kutas made his first start on October 26th. He then started three games in November. He was shut down for a matchup against G5 foe Louisiana Tech prior to the season finale as to preserve that season of eligibility. Kutas promised to come back. Now, he’s in the transfer portal!
Reports of his intention to leave Arkansas have now surfaced. He’ll leave with one extra season to play thanks to the redshirt plan.
Sam Pittman appeared to do all he could to work with Patrick Kutas. It backfired in the worst possible way if a transfer is indeed the next step. For now, it looks as though the Razorbacks will be without a major contributor on the offensive line in 2025.
