Patrick Mahomes’ Dad Avoids Jail Time For Third DWI, Gets ‘Intense Supervision’ Sentence Instead

Patrick Mahomes Sr. will not be going to jail after his most recent DWI arrest.

Earlier this year, a week before the Super Bowl, the father of superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes was arrested in Texas for driving while intoxicated.

This was Mahomes Sr.’s third felony DWI arrest, and he was facing some serious time behind bars.

Patrick Mahomes Sr. has been officially hit with a criminal charge for allegedly driving drunk earlier this year … Texas prosecutors just indicted him for felony DWI.

According to court records, Mahomes Sr. was slapped with the count — driving while intoxicated third or more — on Thursday.

At the time, authorities alleged that during a routine traffic stop, Mahomes Sr. showed signs of being impaired. They added that he admitted to having a few beers at a bar prior to getting behind the wheel. They also said he had an open, 16-ounce Coors beverage in his center console.

On Tuesday, the Mahomes Sr. pled guilty to the DWI charge and avoided prison time by agreeing to five years probabtion with “intense supervision” in the first year of his sentence.

Mahomes, 54, was arrested on Feb. 24 after a traffic stop resulted in him submitting blood with an alcohol content of 0.23. He was scheduled for a jury trial Tuesday in the Smith County judicial system website, but instead submitted a plea of guilt in Judge Kerry L. Russell’s court.

Mahomes, the father of the Kansas City Chiefs’ star QB Patrick Mahomes II, agreed to a five-year probation sentence with “intense” supervision for the first year. Russell had ordered a pre-sentence report before a formal sentencing set be held on Sept. 23.
