Last week, Kirk Cousins ended up in headlines without actually doing anything.
His star receiver, Justin Jefferson revealed his list of the top 5 QBs in the NFL.
That list didn’t include Cousins.
This week, things are going a bit better for him.
During an interview for “Quarterback”, star QB Patrick Mahomes named Cousins the most underrated quarterback in the NFL.
Patrick Mahomes and Marcus Mariota believe Kirk Cousins is the most underrated QB in the league.
They also say a majority of quarterbacks would have that same answer. #skol pic.twitter.com/pJtp552Exf

“I think this guy right here,” Mahomes said. “I mean, if you look at Kirk over here, man. Wins every year. Puts up great stats. Did it in Washington. Does it in Minnesota. Talk to any other quarterbacks in the league, and they’re gonna say the same thing.”
Cousins’ other co-star, Marcus Mariota, agreed with Patrick Mahomes’ assessment.
For a while now Cousins has outperformed the expectations of fans, but there may actually be an easy explanation for why fans may not give Kirk Cousins the credit he deserves.
Cousins hasn’t fared too well when the most fans are watching him play. Cousins has a horrific record on Monday Night Football and is well under .500 in primetime.
It also probably doesn’t help that he’s 1-4 in the playoffs.
Those disappointments in front of national audiences have distracted football fans from what has been a pretty solid career.
Cousins has thrown for over 4000 yards in 7 of his 8 full seasons as an NFL starter, has thrown for 30 or more touchdowns in 3 of those seasons, and has a winning record for his career.
Kirk Cousins may not be a top 5 QB in the NFL even if you ask one of his own receivers, but it’s clear that he has the respect of his fellow QBs.
