The NFL hasn’t been a pretty product this year, to put it lightly.

Passing is down across the board, and the league’s crop of quarterbacks seems to pale in comparison to the ones that played 10, or 20 years ago.

Even the league’s top teams, like the Kansas City Chiefs, look like they’re malfunctioning despite their 3-0 record.

While the Chiefs are undefeated through the first three weeks of the season, none of those wins have been convincing, particularly their 22-17 win over the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday Night Football, which required a last-second goal-line stand to seal the victory.

Superstar future Hall of Fame quarterback Patrick Mahomes certainly isn’t pretending to be ignorant of the team’s level of play so far, as he told reporters after the game that he personally isn’t playing well.

“I feel like I haven’t played very well and that’s not a stats thing. I just feel like I’m missing opportunities whenever they’re out there and not throwing the ball in the exact spot I want it to be at,” Mahomes said. “It’s about me getting back to my fundamentals, putting our guys in the right position, and then we’ve got to execute at a higher level offensively.”

“If teams are going to make us drive the field, we have to prove that we’re able to do that, and I’m sure we’ll get a lot of the same this next week with the Chargers,” he added.

Through three games against the Baltimore Ravens, Cincinnati Bengals and Atlanta Falcons, Mahomes has completed 69.6% of his passes for 659 yards, five touchdowns and four interceptions.

Luckily for the Chiefs, not only will they likely play better as the season continues, but the AFC West doesn’t look like it’ll produce any legitimate competitors this season, especially if the injury that Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert suffered against the Pittsburgh Steelers is severe.
