Uh oh… another athlete getting bitten by the never-ending memory of the internet and social media. This time it’s Arizona Cardinals’ star cornerback Patrick Peterson‘s turn.

As you may have heard, Peterson was just suspended for six games for violating the NFL’s performance-enhancing drug policy.

What’s noticeable about the suspension is that it is for six games and not the more common four games for a first time drug violation.

According to Dan Graziano of ESPN, “Most NFL performance enhancing drug policy violations result in 4-game suspensions for first-time offenders, which Patrick Peterson is. But there are cases in which it can be more.”

He goes on to cite the NFL drug policy, where it specifically lays out what would constitute a harsher 6-game suspension. In particular, it states that the suspension can be lengthened if the player used a masking agent or attempted to manipulate the test results.

One other thing that is also noticeable about Peterson’s suspension, is the hypocrisy of the suspension as some on the internet are pointing out that during the Deflategate scandal, Peterson ripped Tom Brady for “disrespecting the game.”

And here’s a shocker. People in and around the New England area are taking extra special pleasure in Peterson’s suspension.
