IU Indy is moving on from first-year head basketball coach Paul Corsaro. The Indianapolis native seemed to have the program trending in the right direction following an impressive debut, but some unexplained bad behavior has led to a split.
Corsaro was let go on Tuesday by the university. The news sent shockwaves throughout the fanbase.

More questions than answers were provided by the school. IU Indy released a statement following the announcement which did little to provide clarity.
“His behavior did not meet the university’s values and standards regarding the treatment of student-athletes.”

The university would not dive into the coach’s wrongdoing. The decision was made all the more head-scratching considering the way he’s been able to successfully keep talent on the roster.
Paul Corsaro was fired after his first season.
Before taking the role at IU Indy, he’d coached at the D2 level for the University of Indianapolis. Not only did he experience incredible success (68-25 record since 2022), but he was able to then convince his players to follow him to his new school.
Five players made the move from the University of Indianapolis to IU Indy last year. That group helped the Jaguars post a 10-22 record. While that may not seem all that impressive, consider that the program was a combined 14-79 the three years prior.
Corsaro built upon that momentum further by convincing the majority of his production to return, headlined by Sean Craig (12.1 ppg, 7.7 rpg).

At the time of this writing, no player from last year’s roster has come forward to post a reaction to Paul Corsaro’s firing. The university continues to be very vague in its explanation.
There are whispers of NIL concerns considering his ability to keep the roster intact, though there’s been no evidence behind those rumors.
Something definitely happened in Indianapolis.
Corsaro only lasted one season, was very successful for IUPUI, and had a lot of his roster returning.
There were some funky figures being thrown around there in the portal.
Now they’ll have to restart their offseason in May/June.

Corsaro is accused of poorly treating, in some form or fashion, the very same players he’s continuously convinced to play for him. The mysterious firing will raise questions until further details are provided.
