ESPN’s Paul Finebaum woke up and ate a slice of humble pie after watching Jim Harbaugh win a National Championship with the Michigan Wolverines.

Finebaum has been a fair but vocal critic of Jim Harbaugh during his Michigan tenure. But Paul Finebaum has also been wrong with his Jim Harbaugh predictions at every turn. And on Tuesday morning, hours after Harbaugh won it all, Finebaum is apologizing and admitting how unbelievably wrong he’s been.

On ESPN’s GetUp, Paul Finebaum admitted “I don’t know if I’ve ever been more wrong about anything in my entire life” while discussing his past takes on Jim Harbaugh.

Finebaum said he “was cheering for him last night,” referring to Harbaugh. Adding that he couldn’t explain why he was cheering for Harbaugh to win.

He went on to say that he might not ever be as wrong as he has been on Harbaugh “if he lived to be 150.”

Paul then clarified “the point being, this is truly remarkable. And I don’t want to be wrong about something, Greeny. I never want to be wrong. But if you’re going to be epically wrong out of this constellation… out of this universe wrong, I’ll take it. And I think Jim Harbaugh has silenced all of those who doubted him in the early days.”

Finebaum finished by adding “I’m not talking about what’s happened this year, that’s a whole different story. But in the end, he has proven everyone wrong.”

…Is it possible that Paul Finebaum is suggesting there’s something akin to an ‘asterisk’ on Jim Harbaugh’s undefeated season and National Championship, an ‘asterisk’ that could possibly be related to the widespread cheating scandal that landed Jim Harbaugh on a multi-game suspension?

Surely Paul Finebaum wouldn’t be so petty as to apologize to Jim Harbaugh and the world for being dead wrong on his Harbaugh takes AND take a swipe at him in the same breath, right? That’s probably reading too far into this…
