Should the whole Major League Baseball thing not work out for Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Paul Skenes, he has four years to prepare for the Olympics in gymnastics. His girlfriend, Olivia Dunne, recently shared a behind-the-scenes look at the 22-year-old’s training and his future is neither bright nor dull.
Skenes’ gymnastics debut had just as many highs as lows, and there is a lot of work to be done!
Dunne has more than eight million followers on TikTok and five million on Instagram. She started dating Skenes in the spring of 2023 while the LSU baseball team made its run to the national title. The gymnastics team actually got a trophy of its own almost 12 months later.
Even though Dunne participated in Senior Night, she decided to run it back and will use her final year of eligibility with the Tigers in 2025. Their first meet is not until next semester but preseason is underway.
Skenes is on the opposite schedule. He just wrapped up his rookie season in the Bigs and finished as the best pitcher in baseball with an 11-3 record, 1.96 ERA and 170 strikeouts in 133 innings pitched.
The 6-foot-6, 235-pound fireballer lived up to — and exceeded — the hype.
With spring training not until February, Skenes has nowhere to be and nothing to do for the next few months. But that doesn’t mean he isn’t staying in shape!
He joined his girlfriend in the gym in Baton Rouge over the weekend for some cross-training. Dunne posted the results on TikTok and we are the better for it.
Skenes loved the trampolines. He successfully completed a front flip after some initial hesitation. The foam pit, however, was not his friend. The balance beam was also pretty sketchy for someone of his size.
