Penn State may or may not be interested in hiring Jeff Brohm as its next college football coach. However, the moving truck in Louisville had nothing to do with the coaching search.

It caused widespread panic among both fanbases.

This kind of thing is exactly what makes college football so much fun. The internet was set on fire by three blurry photos from inside a wealthy neighborhood on a random Thursday afternoon in November.

Penn State may or may not hire Jeff Brohm.

The Nittany Lions chose to move on from James Franklin after the sixth game of his 12th year as head coach. A team that was expected to compete for a national title lost three-straight games to Oregon, UCLA and Northwestern and that was it. Gone. Just like that.

Franklin will get paid a lot of money not to coach until he finds his next job, which will eventually offset some of the buyout he is owed by Penn State. The university must now find his replacement.

Some of the top names attached to the open job are:

  • Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Joe Brady
  • North Texas head coach Eric Morris
  • Ohio State offensive coordinator Brian Hartline
  • Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel
  • Washington Commanders offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury
  • James Madison head coach Bob Chesney
  • Missouri head coach Eli Drinkwitz
  • Memphis head coach Ryan Silverfield
  • Texas A&M head coach Mike Elko
  • Iowa State head coach Matt Campbell
  • Nebraska head coach Matt Rhule (just signed an extension)
  • Vanderbilt head coach Clark Lea
  • Louisville head coach Jeff Brohm
  • Oregon offensive coordinator Will Stein

As you can see, the search is wide open. Nobody really knows which way the Nittany Lions are going to go but we are going to focus only on Brohm.

At 54 years old, Jeff Brohm currently serves as the head coach at his alma mater. He spent a few years as the head coach at Western Kentucky, then Purdue, and now Louisville. He has an all-time record of 92-53. This year’s Cardinals team is very much alive in the College Football Playoff conversation at 7-1.

The moving truck in Louisville was completely unrelated.

All of this chatter about Brohm reached a fever pitch on Thursday when a Louisville local captured three blurry photos of a moving truck driving through a wealthy residential community. The truck is branded with Penn State signage. More specifically — Penn State football signage.

It is the same truck that moved James Franklin to State College, Pennsylvania. It is often used to transport equipment for the Nittany Lions football program and/or marching band.

Could the truck now be in Louisville to help move future Penn State head coach Jeff Brohm?!

No, it’s not.

Adam Barnett owns a moving company called Barnett Unlimited, Inc. Barnett is a Penn State alumnus and often helps out his alma mater.

“I’ve been moving the PSU Football team’s equipment for over seven seasons and have moved the PSU Blue Band for the last 6 Bowl games. I have had the privilege of moving current and former staff of Penn State University including but not limited to Head Coach James Franklin, former President Graham Spanier, Athletic Director Patrick Kraft, and former Athletic Director Sandy Barbour to name a few. I have also moved many Penn State professors and NFL football players such as Tamba Hali.”

Barnett Unlimited owns the Penn State football-branded moving truck so Barnett decided to set the record straight. Why was his truck in Louisville?

“Good afternoon everyone. I hope everyone is doing well. I just thought this would make things a little easier because I received over 50 messages, emails, texts, etc. The PSU truck in Louisville, KY today is moving an alumni and had nothing to do with football.”

Well, that settles that!

Maybe the Nittany Lions will end up with Brohm when all is said and done. Just not right now.
