Penn State football is coming off of a tough loss to Ohio State in Columbus on Saturday and will hope to avoid the ongoing AP Poll curse. The last four weeks does not bode well for the Nittany Lions.
Current AP Poll rankings are as follow:
- Georgia
- Michigan
- Ohio State
- Florida State
- Washington
- Oklahoma
- Texas
- Oregon
- Alabama
- PENN STATE
- Oregon State
- Ole Miss
- Utah
- Notre Dame
- LSU
- Missouri
- North Carolina
- Louisville
- Air Force
- Duke
- Tennessee
- Tulane
- UCLA
- USC
- James Madison
At No. 10, the Nittany Lions could be in some trouble. They will host Indiana on Saturday. It is a game that they should win, and win comfortably.
However, recent college football history does not mean that the game will go according to plan. The 10th-ranked team in the country has lost four games in a row in four-straight weeks.
It started when Utah lost to Oregon State in Week 5. Notre Dame lost to Louisville in Week 6. USC lost to Notre Dame in Week 7. UNC lost to Virginia in Week 8.
Does this mean that Penn State will lose to Indiana in Week 9? Probably not.
But who is to say that it doesn’t? Even if you’re not superstitious, anyone who is even a littlestitious can’t help but notice the pattern here. It’s like the curse of No. 2 in 2007, when eight second-ranked teams lost to lower-ranked opponents despite being favored in each of those games. We all notice it, but nobody wants to say anything.
Well, here I am. I’m saying it!
Penn State football is officially cursed after being ranked No. 10 in the AP Poll. The Nittany Lions are officially on upset watch, even though they are 32.5-point favorites against the 2-5 Hoosiers, who are coming off of a loss to the (bowl-eligible) Rutgers Scarlet Knights.
