We all know Phil Mickelson loves to gamble, and he’s been known to like to bet on anything and everything. It was rare for Mickelson to play a round on the PGA Tour and not have side games going on.

While Mickelson says he no longer gambles for money, he made a gentleman’s wager with golf influencer Grant Horvat that had him looking pretty funny at the Open Championship during Wednesday’s practice round.

Mickelson, now 54, claimed that he gave up gambling for good last year, and admitted that his betting had crossed the line into addiction. But,  that must only include cash wagers.

According to the New York PostPhil Mickelson recently played a match against YouTube golf influencer Grant Horvat, who has over 700,000 followers on the platform. If he lost, he had to wear joggers to a practice round of the Open Championship. If he won, Horvat had to buy a year’s supply of For Wellness Coffee, brand co-owned by Mickelson, for a fan.

Mickelson lost the match, and there he was in joggers out on the course on Wednesday. Thankfully, Phil Mickelson was a good sport about it.

When the competitive golf actually started on Thursday, Mickelson played a solid round in brutal conditions at Royal Troon in Scotland. He shot a 73 (+2), good for T42 on a day where a lot of the top players in the world blew up.

Then again, maybe he would’ve played better if he put on the joggers.
