Phil Mickelson Hit A Ridiculous Flop Shot Over A Guy Standing Three Feet Away From Him

I recently decided to pick up a golf club after a fair amount of time away from the sport and shortly after decided to put down the club in order to avoid snapping it over my knee after reminding myself why I’d taken a hiatus in the first place. It continues to amaze me golf is so popular with people who have a prescription to treat their high blood pressure (unless playing is the real reason they have to take it in the first place).

As someone with a background in comedy, I’d say playing golf is the equivalent of doing standup: you can practice for decades but there’s a very good chance nothing will ever really come of it. In keeping with that comparison, I’d much rather sit on the couch watching the best people in the field show off their skills as opposed to paying for the privilege of repeatedly bombing on stage (which is basically what I do by dropping $50 on greens fees and another $10 on balls I’ll never see again).

It’s hard to understate just how good you have to be to make it on the PGA Tour and it can be just as easy to forget how skilled the pros are based on the fact that they can routinely make some of the most difficult shots in the world look practically effortless.

Take Phil Mickelson for example, who showed off a bit by somehow convincing a guy to stand three feet away from him so he could hit a flop shot over its head. While I admit this clip would probably be funnier if he’d drilled the volunteer in the face, it’s still an incredible showcase of his prowess on the links.

Dude. Perfect.
