The last time we saw Philadelphia Eagles superstar wide receiver A.J. Brown, he was dropping a key pass in the team’s NFC Wild Card round loss to the San Francisco 49ers.

Thus ended an extremely frustrating season for both Brown and the defending Super Bowl champion Eagles.

Brown’s numbers were actually extremely similar in 2025 compared to 2024. He caught 78 passes for 1,003 yards and seven touchdowns, compared to 67 passes for 1,078 yards and seven scores a year ago.

But he seemed to disappear for long stretches of games, leading to very public displays of frustration and speculation that he could seek a trade out of Philadelphia in the offseason.

But now that seems less likely to happen.

Philadelphia Eagles GM Howie Roseman Wants To Keep A.J. Brown

The Eagles acquired Brown from the Tennessee Titans via trade at the 2022 NFL Draft, and he’s starred for the organization ever since.

Which is why Philadelphia general manager Howie Roseman balked at the idea of entering the 2026 season without Brown on his team.

“It is hard to find great players in the NFL, and A.J. is a great player,” Roseman said Thursday during his end-of-season news conference.

“I think from my perspective, that’s what we’re going out and looking for when we go out here in free agency, in the draft, just trying to find great players who love football, and he’s that guy.”

The Eagles would also be forced to eat a significant chunk of dead money on Brown’s contract even if they traded him due to the structure of his contract. So moving on from Brown would not only be a difficult choice from a personnel standpoint, but it would also be tough financially.

Now, if Brown asks out, Philly may not have a ton of options.

But for the time being, it doesn’t sound like the Eagles have any interest in getting rid of the superstar wideout.
