A fisherman at Magnolia Lake in Bucks County, just outside of Philadelphia, received a rude awakening this week when he went to reel and found an alligator stuck to the end of his line.
In a video shared on social media, the man, who identified himself only as “Ricky,” expresses his shock as he finds the gator thrashing to break free of the line. He was unable to reel in the animal, but one day later, an alligator sanctuary owner was able to safely remove the alligator from the lake.
“Yooooo there’s a F-ing alligator here! Who let go an alligator?….If I wasn’t recording nobody would believe me.” Ricky from North Philly exclaimed, as his relaxing day of fishing in Bristol Township’s Magnolia Lake took a wild twist. “I was excited about a fish, then got excited about an alligator,” he told local news channel FOX 29.””Out of nowhere he just came up, and I said, ‘That’s an alligator.’ I didn’t believe it. It was crazy. My heart wanted to come out. Oh my God, it’s an alligator.”
Local Sanctuary Owner Rangles Philadelphia Alligator Found In Lake
Kyle Asplundh, who goes by Crocodile Kyle on Instagram, was able to catch the gator the following day and is hoping to rehome the animal.
“Once I was able to secure him, I proceeded to head to the bank where I was met with 3 park rangers that were very respectful and appreciative for taking care of their problem,” Asplundh said in an Instagram post. “Not that way, though unfortunately, with another organization. Don’t want to rattle any cages as the potential is still there for the alligator to be destroyed, but I’m doing everything I can to ensure that is not the case. ”
Asplundh grew up in the Philadelphia area, but now lives in Florida, where he operates an alligator sanctuary.
