Two college football players at Pittsburgh attacked an Atlantic Coast Conference ball boy on Saturday. The strange sideline squabble took place after a pick-six.
Fortunately, nobody was hurt.
Although I do not know the full context, I can confidently say it was one of the most bizarre college football moments I have ever seen. I also do not know who was in the wrong.
Pittsburgh went 75 yards for a touchdown on an early interception against Louisvile.
Miller Moss dropped back in the pocket on 3rd-and-15. His pass was intercepted.
The Cardinals’ quarterback looked at his intended target the entire way. He threw over the middle into no man’s land with three Panthers defensive backs in the area.
Rasheem Biles (No. 3) ultimately came down with the ball and took off running. Pittsburgh went 75 yards the other way to take a 16-10 lead over Louisville with 1:42 remaining in the fourth quarter. It was easy!

ESPN eventually cut back to Biles as he returned to the sideline with the football he had just intercepted. Although we did not get to see what happened leading up to that moment, it appeared as though the nearby ball boy tried to rip the football from the linebacker’s possession in an aggressive manner.
That did not end well. Biles and teammate Isaiah Neal immediately fought back. They pushed the ball boy down until he was out of reach. Neal flipped the football back to Biles, who flipped the football into the crowd.

So what happened?
UPDATE: Per, @TheLoyalSons on X, “Louisville’s ball boy Peanut-punched the ball out of Rasheem Biles hands the second he crossed the goal line. Biles wanted it back to give to his family, who sits in the front row of the section by that pylon. Biles made sure the ball arrived at the intended destination.”
I cannot say for certain, but I am pretty confident the ball boy works for Louisville. Moss threw the pick when the Cardinals were on offense, obviously, so it was their football.
The ball boy tried to get his football back from the Panthers. They didn’t let him. That’s just my guess.
