Personal responsibility does not seem to be a strong suit of Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver George Pickens.
Last season, Steelers head coach had to tell Pickens to “your d— mouth shut” after he blamed media members for his struggling play.
Now, Pickens is pointing the finger at NFL refs after he grabbed Dallas Cowboys defensive back Jourdan Lewis by the facemask and threw him to the ground late in a 20-17 loss.
Asked if he’s gotten better at handling moments when he’s been called for questionable penalties or not had plays go his way, George Pickens said:
“I wouldn’t really say that. It’s all on the refs. That should show you where the refs are this season” pic.twitter.com/SOCnIfS8h0

“I wouldn’t really say that. It’s all on the refs. That should show you where the refs are this season,” Pickens answered when asked he’s gotten better at handling moments when he’s been called for questionable penalties or not had plays go his way.
George Pickens Has A History Of Blaming Refs When Things Go Wrong
Pickens also called out the league for investigating him over the message on his eye black during the game, which read “Open F—ing Always.”
To his credit, that seems a bit ridiculous.
Although, so does the message. Pickens caught just three passes for 26 yards on the night. He has only 23 receptions for 310 yards and zero touchdowns on the season. So maybe we have a different definition of “always.”
After the game against the Cowboys, Lewis could be heard calling Pickens “weak’ as he walked to the locker room.
It’s also not the first time Pickens has pointed the finger at the refs. He blamed them for the Steelers’ 31-17 loss to the Buffalo Bills in the AFC wild card round last season.
“To be honest, I am still stuck on this game right now with the refs,” Pickens told the media. “Refs, refs, refs. That’s the only thing that’s really on my mind when it’s blatant like it was today. You are not gonna win a game when you have to play refs and the Buffalo Bills. That’s really what I feel like happened to us today, to be honest.”
Okay George, whatever you say.
