As the WNBA season gets ready to being its 2024 season, the league has released a lengthy poll of league general managers covering everything from who they think will win MVP, who is the best head coach, who will win Rookie of the Year, and which team will be the most improved.

Unsurprisingly, Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark and her Indiana Fever are at the top of those last two lists.

“The GMs responded to 45 questions about the best teams, players, coaches and offseason moves,” the WNBA explained. “General managers were not permitted to vote for their own team or personnel. Percentages are based on the pool of respondents to that particular question, rather than all 12 GMs.”

Here are some of the results…

67% believe A’ja Wilson of the Las Vegas Aces will win WNBA MVP in 2024. Wilson was also named the best defensive player and the best center in the WNBA by 42% of GMs. 58% called her the best interior defender.

Caitlin Clark was picked by 50% of the general managers as the player they would sign if they were starting a franchise today. 92% picked Clark to be the 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year. 83% said Clark will be the best player out of this rookie class in five years. 82% of the respondents predicted that Clark will be the face of the WNBA in five years.

Interestingly, the rookie Indiana Fever guard came in tied for second as the best point guard in the league (Chelsea Gray was at the top) and tied for second as the best shooting guard in the WNBA (Jewell Lloyd was ranked number one) before actually playing in a regular season game.

Aliyah Boston, also of the Fever, was tops on the list of players most likely to have a breakout season.

The best small forward in the WNBA, according to GMs, is Satou Sabally of Dallas and the league’s best power forward is New York’s Breanna Stewart.

Indiana was voted the most improved WNBA team heading into the 2024 season.

Becky Hammon of Las Vegas was voted the best head coach in the league and her Aces were named the most fun team to watch, the team with the best home-court advantage, and the team with the most efficient offense.

Hammon’s point guard Chelsea Gray was named the player GMs would you want taking a shot with the game on the line as well as the player with the best basketball IQ.
