Predicting The Best Quarterback In Every NFL Division This Year

With just over a week from the 2024 NFL season officially getting underway, these quarterbacks will be the best signal-callers in their respective divisions this year.

In the modern NFL, quarterbacks make a team go. It’s very rare that a team can overcome poor quarterback play to make a serious run at a divisional crown.

These eight quarterbacks are going to help their teams the most in their respective divisions this year.

NFC East: Philadelphia Eagles QB Jalen Hurts

Last year, Jalen Hurts came in as the best quarterback in the division, but the best QB in the division ended up being Dak Prescott. The Cowboys signal-caller ended up second in the MVP voting while Hurts faltered down the stretch alongside the rest of the Eagles.

But, with upgraded weapons and better playcalling this season, Jalen Hurts will once again be the best quarterback in the NFC East.

NFC North: Chicago Bears QB Caleb Williams

Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff or Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love are likely most people’s pick here. Both of them would be good picks.

But, Bears rookie Caleb Williams is the most talented quarterback in the division, and a great group of weapons set him up for instant success.  He will become the first Bears quarterback to ever pass for over 4000 yards. In fact, he will end up closer to 5000 yards, and will be the best quarterback in the NFC North.

NFC South: Atlanta Falcons QB Kirk Cousins

This division was easily the worst division in football last year, not just in terms of the actual teams but in quarterback play as well. Switching out Desmond Ridder for Kirk Cousins in Atlanta is going to help with that tremendously. Expect Cousins to take advantage of a fantastic group of weapons and a solid offensive line to surpass Baker Mayfield as the best quarterback in the division.

NFC West: Los Angeles Rams QB Matthew Stafford

The NFC West has better quarterbacks than you think, especially with Cardinals QB Kyler Murray healthy again. But, Matthew Stafford is still the most talented quarterback in the division. Brock Purdy has the best situation, but Stafford will elevate his team the most, especially with Cooper Kupp healthy once again.

AFC North: Cincinnati Bengals QB: Joe Burrow

It’s hard to pick against the defending NFL MVP in Lamar Jackson, and he could once again be the best quarterback in the AFC North. But, Joe Burrow is healthy again, and he was the best quarterback in the division prior to last year’s injury-plauged year. Expect him to be the AFC North’s best quarterback once again.

AFC East: Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen

With all due respect to Aaron Rodgers and Tua Tagovailoa, Josh Allen is still the cream of the crop in the AFC East in terms of quarterback play. Frankly, he’s a few defensive breakdowns by the Bills away from being thought of on a similar level as Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Arguably no single player is more important to their team than Josh Allen.

AFC South: Houston Texans QB CJ Stroud

With respect to Jacksonville Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence, who is in line for a big bounce-back year, it’s hard to pick against CJ Stroud. He was extraordinary as a rookie last year, and the Texans weapons are even better this season. Expect for him to continue to progress into one of the league’s elite quarterbacks.

AFC West: Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes

This doesn’t need much explaining. Patrick Mahomes is the best quarterback on the planet. With respect to the excellent Justin Herbert, he’s got a long way to go to catch Patrick Mahomes.
