President Trump is making some serious threats ahead of the upcoming 2026 World Cup games and 2028 Olympics in the United States.
While speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Trump warned that Boston could lose its 2026 World Cup matches if local officials, specifically Mayor Michelle Wu, fail to address safety concerns due to crime.
“Boston better clean up their act. That’s all I can say,”
“If somebody is doing a bad job, and if I feel there are unsafe conditions, I would call Gianni the head of FIFA – and I would say, ‘Let’s move it to another location,’ and he would do that,” Trump said, referring to FIFA President Gianni Infantino.
“He wouldn’t love to do it, but he’d do it very easily,”
Trump also threatened to pull the Olympics out of Los Angeles amid beef with Governor Gavin Newsom over crime concerns in the city.
“We’d do that. Gavin Newsom – he’s got to get his act together! If he doesn’t play ball, we’re gonna have to be very tough on them!”
“If I thought LA was not going to be prepared properly, I would move it to another location if I had to,” he said. “On that one I’d probably have to get a different kind of a permission, but we would do that.”

It is worth noting that Newsom has spoken out against Trump deploying the National Guard in Democratic cities.
Constitutional Crisis: CA Gov. Newsom says Trump’s deployment of the National Guard to Democratic cities “is unprecedented in modern American history. This is, dare I say, a constitutional crisis.”
Democracy hangs by a thread.
