The story of Dayton Webber was once an uplifting one. At 10 months old, doctors gave him just a three percent chance to live. Doctors were forced to amputate both of his arms and legs to stop a deadly infection from spreading.

Webber proceeded to beat the odds and make himself into a star. At 25 years old, he became the first quadruple amputee in the history of the American Cornhole League.

Webber was an overcomer. Over the weekend, however, Webber’s story took a drastic turn.

Quad Amputee Cornhole Star Dayton Webber Facing Murder Charge

According to a report from local news station Fox 5, Webber, now 27, was arrested in Charlottesville, Va., and arraigned in Charles County for the fatal shooting of 27‑year‑old Bradrick Michael Wells.

Webber was in a Virginia hospital at the time, and now faces first and second-degree murder charges as he awaits extradition to Charles County.

According to a statement filed by a detective of the Charles County Sheriff’s Office, Webber picked up two witnesses from work in a vehicle. At the time, Bradrick Wells was already in the front passenger seat of the vehicle. The statement claims that an argument broke out between Webber and Wells while driving, leading Webber to pull out a firearm and shoot Wells twice in the head.

The two witnesses exited the vehicle and located a police officer, while Webber drove off with Wells still inside the car. A local resident later found Wells’ body on the side of the road.

Both witnesses positively identified Webber as the shooter, leading to the charges.

Following the incident, police located Webber’s vehicle in Charlottesville and later found him at a local hospital seeking treatment for injuries.

Webber has posted multiple videos on social media showing him shooting rifles and 9mm handguns.

“It’s early in the investigation, but there’s no evidence to suggest anyone else was involved in the shooting and that he acted alone,” the Charles County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.
