Tensions are beginning to flare up in New York as the Jets fell 2-3 on the season following another lowly offensive performance, losing to the Minnesota Vikings by a score of 23-17.

In the loss to the Vikings, the Jets were plagued by the same issues that have routinely derailed the team since Robert Saleh’s arrival: turnovers and penalties. Aaron Rodgers committed three interceptions, while the Jets committed eight penalties for 76 yards.

Speaking to reporters after the loss, Pro Bowl linebacker Quincy Williams seemed to be reaching a breaking point, saying that people within the team need to start “taking accountability.”

“I’m going to be honest, people get tired of hearing the same s—. People gotta start taking accountability. People get tired of hearing the same thing every week. That’s all I got to say,” Williams told the media after the defeat.

The part that sounds like it’s a shot at head coach Robert Saleh and his coaching staff is the “tired of hearing the same thing every week” bit, as Saleh has been standing in front of the media for four years talking about getting penalties cleaned up and the offense fixed. At some point, the Jets offense struggles, Aaron Rodgers or not, fall on the head coach.

The players on the team also not being held accountable is also something that falls on the head coach, which is something that Rodgers alluded to when speaking to the media after the Jets 10-9 loss in Week 4.

After being told Saleh suggested he may have to change his pre-snap cadence, Rodgers bristled and basically said “Or the offensive line could be held accountable.”

With the loss to the Minnesota Vikings in London in Week 5, the New York Jets’ record fell to 2-3 against the upcoming Monday Night Football matchup against the Buffalo Bills.

Despite their struggles this season, however, if the Jets can beat the Bills at home on Monday, August 14, they’ll take possession of first place in the AFC East.
