Raiders’ Maxx Crosby Talks To Us About Becoming An Underwear Model, Recovering From Injury, And Potential UFC Career After Football

SAXX

Raiders defensive stud Maxx Crosby is officially an underwear model.

Earlier this week, Crosby announced that he was partnering up with Men’s Underwear brand SAXX to become their latest spokesman.

We were able to sit down with Maxx to ask him about his injury, the Raiders season, and his partnership with SAXX.

Maxx, tell us what it’s like to become an underwear model for SAXX.

“I mean, it’s different, it’s definitely different, but I’m different, you know what I mean? At the end of the day, I’m not afraid to be myself, and if you ask anybody when I’m at my house, I’m walking around with no shirt on and and damn near underwear all day. So it is what it is, you know, just a couple more people in front of me and a couple more cameras, but it was cool, man, you know, it was definitely a different experience: I’m used to hunting people down on a football field. That’s my favorite thing to do, but hey, if a partnership is aligned with me in the right ways we could figure something out, and  that’s what it came down to ultimately.”

Did you sign with SAXX because they have two Xs in their name like Maxx?

(Laughs) “It was a part of it, you know, it just made too much sense… I sack the quarterback. You got the double X like me. They got great people working there, and they got a similar vision. So just for those reasons, it made just too much sense.”

Talking a little football, what’s the mindset like inside the Raiders locker room after a slow start to the season?

“It’s funny, you know, just people’s perspective on starts and if it’s slow or not, you know what I mean? At the end of the day, we’re two and two. We’ve had some great wins. We’ve had a couple of tough losses, but realistically, we’re right in the mix, and that’s all that matters, and we’re focused on winning games. So we plan on doing that. ”

You had to sit out the first game of your football career with an injury, how has that been for you and when can fans expect you to be back?

“You know, I’m taking it literally one day at a time, you know, that’s my mindset right now. Yeah, of course, it’s hard, I’ve never missed the game in my life, so it’s real tough, but at the end of the day, it’s a blessing in disguise, it gave those guys, my teammates, an opportunity to go out there and go close the game against Cleveland and dominate and they did that.”

You have a Kobe Bryant tattoo, you post a lot about Kobe on social media, what is about Kobe that inspires you?

“With Kobe, obviously everyone talks about the mindset, the way he approached the game, the way he worked, the way he was so detailed and diligent on a daily basis to improve. Those are the things that stick out to me and what helped me just become such a big fan of him and follow his methods, and then there are so many other things, the killer mentality, not being afraid to take the shot at the end of the game. I think it’s very similar to my mindset. I wanna be the one with the pressure. I wanna be the one that’s expected to make the play when we need it. All those things… there’s so many things..”

“And just hearing the stories like the way he approached certain things and the way he attacked, that’s everything I stand for. That’s all I wanna be in the NFL. I don’t wanna be Kobe Bryant. I wanna be Max Crosby, but I wanna be, you know, somebody that’s looked at that way, you know what I mean? That has a statue in front of it that won championships that dominated at the highest level.”

“I love that dude, and I wish I got a chance to meet him, but I feel like I know him, you know, and I, I’ll definitely have my running with him one day, you know, whenever that is awesome.”

We know you’re a big UFC fan and you’ve sparred with former UFC champion Sean Strickland, would you ever consider fighting in MMA after your NFL career is over?

“Yeah, I wouldn’t be surprised… We’ll see when that time comes, but I mean, even my teammates, it is funny, like we were talking about a couple of days ago, and they’re like, you know…do you think like you’d actually do it? And a couple of my teammates looked at me and they’re like. Max is 100% gonna do that. So I guess, I guess we’ll see. But yeah, I love fighting.’

You and SAXX will work together to identify several “game-changers” across college football. The players selected will receive an NIL deal, including a personal message, SAXX gear and compensation. How important was it for you to give back to college athletes with this deal with SAXX?

“So, you know, they came to me and probably the biggest part of why this partnership came together was just their excitement to be involved with everything that I’m involved with. From my podcast to NIL at Eastern Michigan Eastern, my alma mater. I do a lot, I’ve donated a lot of money to the school and they were willing to come in and help, you know, get some players, some NIL deals and, and get some guys some money. So especially young guys like that.”

“So whatever impact I can make on those guys and somebody that’s willing to come in and help me do that.  It’s a no-brainer, and SAXX was able to do that right out the gate, and they’re really open and excited about doing that. So, yeah, I’m fired up about what we’re putting together, and, you know, we’re gonna try to help as many people as possible. That’s, that’s the ultimate goal.”
