Randi Zuckerberg has lived multiple lives. After graduating from Harvard spent several years working in Advertising before her younger brother Mark Zuckerberg poached her and she joined Facebook as one of the first 10 employees within the company where she assumed the role of Director of Market Development and Spokesperson. Since then, she’s gone on to have a family of her own, host a SiriusXM show each week, and has emerged as an elite ultra distance runner.
In 2025, Randi Zuckerberg completed the infamous Cocodona 250, a 250-mile race in Arizona. She crossed the finish line with a time of 113 hours, 29 minutes, and 45 seconds. Then this past week Randi set the Fastest Known Time (FKT) of the Baja Sur trail in Mexico.
Randi Zuckerberg Sets Fastest Known Time (FKT) Of Baja Sur
FKTs are enormous accomplishments in the utlra distance running world. They signify a runner has completed some extreme distance faster than any other human before them.
Over the weekend, Randi Zuckerberg announced her Baja Sur FKT with details of the enormous achievement. In total, it was 82 miles from the Pacific Ocean to the Sea of Cortez, also known as the Gulf of California. She completed it in 24 hours, 53 minutes, and 10 seconds.
82 miles is challenging enough on flat ground and this was anything but flat. Over the 82 miles, Randi covered 13,000 FEET of elevation. In one section, from miles 17-34, she covered 6,000 feet with three straight miles at 30% grade.
Most runners consider a ‘hill’ any stretch that gains 50-150 over the span of a mile. 250 feet/mile is considered very hilly. She covered 2,000 feet/mile for three miles smack dab in the middle of her 82 mile FKT. Absolutely unreal.
Randi Zuckerberg announced her achievement on Instagram where she shared details of it all. Joe Corcione, an ultra running coach in Phoenix who runs Everyday Ultra, ran 60+ miles with her along the path. She took one 5 minute nap on the trail. Spent 40 miles of the 82 running at night under the moon and stars. And hit sunrise at mile 70 to get that rush of adrenaline and finish strong:
To really drive home how incredible of an achievement this was for Randi Zuckerberg, she added that this was her first ultra distance after coming back from an injury.
Of course, her brother Mark Zuckerberg congratulated her on this incredible FKT achievement:

That part, above all, hits home for me. I tweaked my back last week while weight lifting. I’m currently training for a 70.3 IronMan later this year. My next triathlon is in 4 weeks. On Monday of last week, I hurt my back so bad I was stuck on the ground for nearly an hour. I managed to get home and then sat in the tub for hours unable to move.
Sitting or standing was out of the question. I felt like I’d never be able to run again with the pain level I was at. Now, a week later, I was able to sit on the stationary bike without pain and feel like my next triathlon in April isn’t out of reach. Running is still out of the question and sitting down/standing up is still quite painful. But overcoming an injury is a personal milestone that is hard to relate to but it is a universal experience among athletes and to see Randi Zuckerberg pull this off has certainly given me inspiration.
