The New York Giants are a truly awful football team. They’re 2-11, have lost eight straight, and it seems like there’s a slim chance that they will win again this year.
It seems like a near-certainty that they will lose this weekend. In a league full of parity, the Giants are massive underdogs to the Baltimore Ravens, with the point spread being the biggest number all year.
The New York Giants come into their Week 14 game ranked dead last in the NFL in scoring offense, and a defense that was playing well at the beginning of the year has been decimated by injuries to stars like Dexter Lawrence.
They had to release former franchise quarterback Daniel Jones after he was benched earlier this season, and the quarterback situation may be the worst in the league, with Tommy DeVito and Drew Lock splitting time since then.
At times, it seems like head coach Brian Daboll has lost the team, especially when you consider some of the comments made by players like star rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers. Banner plans begging owner John Mara to fix the time circulated during last Sunday’s home loss to the New Orleans Saints.
Right now, it’s hard to argue they’re not the worst team in the NFL, while the Baltimore Ravens are among the best. That sets up this weekend’s game as a likely blow-out. And, the spread reflects that. According to Pro Football Talk, the 16.5 point spread is the largest spread of the season so far.
Previously, the biggest spread this season was the Lions-Jaguars game, which saw Vegas favor Detroit by 14 points. The Lions covered with ease, winning 52-6.
The largest spread in NFL history was in 2013, as the Broncos were four-touchdown favorites over the Jaguars. The Broncos did not cover, winning 35-19.
