Former Rex Sox player David Ortiz is reportedly in the hospital in the Santo Domingo after someone shot him during an attempted armed robbery.

Update: Ortiz was reportedly shot in the back and the bullet exited through his stomach according to latest reports from the Dominican Republic.

There is alleged footage of locals kicking and beating the man responsible for the shooting of Ortiz.
According to an eye witness Ortiz was taking pictures when he was shot in the back.
