NBC News is reporting that boxing legend Muhammad Ali has passed away at the age of 74 a few days after he was taken to a Phoenix area hospital to battle a respiratory condition.

Ali died Friday at a Phoenix-area hospital, where he had spent the past few days being treated for respiratory complications, a family spokesperson confirmed to NBC News. He was 74.
This is terrible news, Ali was one of my heroes and one of the reasons that I fell in love with sports in the first place. RIP champ.
