During the offseason, there was quite a bit of speculation about whether or not Sean McVay would return as the head couch of the Los Angeles Rams for the 2022 season. There were rumors that he could be interested in taking a job in broadcasting rather than continue to coach the Rams.

There was even report that he had received a massive offer to move on to broadcasting. He ended up turning down the opportunity to return to the Rams, but now it seems like he could still have his mind made up on when he’ll move on from the Rams.

Today, Albert Breer discussed McVay’s coaching future during an appearance on “The Rich Eisen Show” and revealed that McVay will retire when the Los Angeles Rams’ core group of Matt Stafford, Cooper Kupp, Aaron Donald, and Jalen Ramsey moves on.

Sean McVay reportedly plans to retire when the Los Angeles Rams’ core moves on

Whenever this core is ready to call it quits, the rebuild for the Rams is going to be an absolute mess. As if it wouldn’t be enough to try and replace some of the league’s top defensive players, one of its best receivers, and a talented quarterback, the Rams will have to do it without a bunch of their draft picks.

Now it seems that they’ll also have to do it with a new head coach whenever that day comes as McVay will be ready to retire whenever the Rams’ core moves on.

It’s going to be a tough situation, but I’m sure they’ll be okay with it having won a Super Bowl with this group.
