Akbar Gbajabiamila, a former NFL player turned media personality, claimed that the Tennessee Titans were trading their superstar running back, Derrick Henry, to the NFC Champion Philadelphia Eagles.
For fans of both teams, this news was a major development. Derrick Henry is a household name in the NFL, and for good reason. He is a two-time rushing champion, and in the 2020 season, he led the league in rushing yards with over 2,000 yards. The thought of him donning an Eagles jersey was enough to make Philly fans salivate.
However, as the hours went by, it became clear that the rumor was nothing more than hot air. Multiple reputable NFL insiders, including Jay Glazer of FOX and Mike Florio of NBC, disputed the report, citing sources close to the situation.
According to Glazer, the trade was “not happening, at least not at this point.”, Florio’s source also confirmed that the trade was not happening. Veteran sportswriter Paul Kuharsky added that the Titans hadn’t even spoken to the Eagles about a potential trade.
Despite these reports, the internet continued to run with the rumor, with fans and analysts alike speculating on the possible motivations behind the Titans’ alleged desire to trade their star player. Some argued that the Titans were looking to acquire more draft picks, while others speculated that Derrick Henry’s injury history might be a factor.
For now, however, it seems that the rumors were just that – rumors. Derrick Henry remains a Titan, and Eagles fans will have to look elsewhere for their next big acquisition.
