After getting the fourth pick in the NBA draft lottery earlier this week the LA Lakers have plenty of options this offseason including trading for Anthony Davis .
Lakers GM Rob Pelinka on the No. 4 pick: “This is a powerful asset for us.” He said that LAL will methodically explore all options, deciding whether to keep the pick or use it as a trade asset. He also mentioned how rookie contracts are “extraordinary valuable.”

Something finally went right for the Lakers. With the Pelicans set to get Zion, it’ll make it easier to part ways with Anthony Davis and with the Lakers having the #4 pick and the kids (Ingram, Lonzo, and Kuzma) they have the best trade package for AD.

Not only do the Lakers have their sights on Anthony Davis but it seems like Kyrie Irving might be interested in joining the Lakers as well.

But as time passes here and as the possibility exists that Jason Kidd could be hired as the Lakers coach, I think the possibility of Kyrie and LeBron reuniting — that door, which was deadbolted, has been un-deadbolted and has now been cracked open … It might even be opening more by the day. And I say that just because I think it’s on Kyrie’s radar, it’s on Kyrie’s board. He has had discussions with people about playing for the Lakers.”
According to one rival western executive many execs around the league speculate that a trio of Anthony Davis, LeBron and Kyrie is a “very realistic” possibility.
One executive keeping tabs on free agency said on Wednesday that the scenario of Davis, Irving and LeBron James playing together in Los Angeles next season remains something that he and other opposing execs see as ‘very realistic.’ It’s worth noting the executive was speaking speculatively based on conversations he’d had with others, but that’s a scenario certainly worth keeping an eye on.
The Lakers still have a lot of work to do if they want to pry Davis away from the Pelicans but it seems like it’s something that could happen.
