Robert Griffin III, consistently one of the weirdest posters in sports media — need we remind you about that Olympics tweet from earlier this summer where he’s jamming half a giant croissant down his throat — chimed in over the weekend with perhaps the strangest take in reaction to Arch Manning’s glittering performance for the Texas Longhorns on Saturday.

In Texas’ dominant win over the UTSA Roadrunners, Arch Manning, filling in for an injured Quinn Ewers, completed 9-12 passes for 223 yards and 4 touchdowns, while also carrying the ball three times for 53 yards and a touchdown, which included this highlight-reel run.

RGIII, hours after the game ended, logged on to X, formerly Twitter, to share his thoughts on Manning by referencing the iconic “Racial Draft” episode of Chappelle’s Show, saying that “The Black Delegation has drafted Arch Manning.”

If you scroll through the quote tweets of RGII’s post, you’ll see that his comments particularly rubbed those within his own community the wrong way, with many of the responses flaming the former Heisman Trophy winner. One simple yet viral tweet told ESPN that they did a “good job” by firing Griffin earlier this year.

As for Arch Manning’s performance, one of the most popular responses is that it’s not fair that a Manning quarterback also can run the ball, as Hall of Famers Peyton and Eli Manning were famously immobile, yet still consistently among the NFL’s best. Peyton and Eli — who each have two Super Bowl rings — are Arch’s uncles.

Manning, 19 years old, was a five-star recruit out of Isidore Newman School before committing to the University of Texas. After serving as the team’s third-string quarterback during his Freshman season in 2023, Manning began 2024 backing up Ewers and made his college football debut against UTSA on Saturday, September 14.
