In an effort to offset the loss of pass rusher Bryce Huff to free agency, the New York Jets traded for former Philadelphia Eagles sack artist Hasson Reddick.
New York Jets head coach Robert Saleh, however, has yet to see the fruits of this trade as Reddick has not only skipped OTAs but he’s actually has yet to speak to his new head coach.
While speaking to the media on Tuesday, June 4, Saleh said that he doesn’t know why Reddick has not been around the organization since the trade.
“Obviously, as a coach, selfishly, you want everyone here all the time, but it is voluntary and I’m thankful for the guys who are here putting in their work and those are the guys who I want to focus on,” Saleh said.
Saleh then tried to downplay Reddick’s absence from the team by pointing to the fact that, at 29 years old, he’s a veteran in the NFL and has been around the block.
“Hasson is a pro, he’s been in this league a while, he’s produced at a very high level for a long tme, he’s got his routine — if it makes people feel better, we know where he’s at, we know what he’s doing and we know he’s working his tail off to get where he needs to get to to have a productive ’24 season.”

Reddick, who was born in New Jersey (just an hour or so away from the team’s facility in Florham Park) and played college football in Philadelphia at Temple University, was drafted by the Arizona Cardinals with the 13th overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. Reddick spent four seasons with the Cardinals before signing a one-year contract with the Carolina Panthers in 2021.
After his time in Carolina, Reddick signed a three-year, $45 million deal with the Philadelphia Eagles in March 2022 and spent the last two seasons with the team, both of which ended in him being named to the Pro Bowl.
During his seven-year career, Reddick has appeared in 114 games (81 starts) and has 410 total tackles, 69 tackles for losses, 58 sacks, and 16 forced fumbles.
