Former NFL QB Rodney Peete was in attendance for the Tokyo Series to watch the Dodgers take on the Cubs in Japan. The passer made himself a part of the action with his foul ball thievery in the left field stands.
Peete was seen making a snag over the outstretched arm of Los Angeles third baseman Max Muncy. He flashed the leather while reminding viewers of his baseball past.
Peete is best remembered as an NFL signal caller. He suited up for the Lions, Cowboys, Eagles, Commanders, Raiders, and Panthers across a 15-year pro career.
In that time, he posted a 45-42 record, helping two franchises reach the playoffs. Prior to that NFL career, Rodney Peete was a two-sport star at USC.
In the fall, he was a QB. In the spring, an infielder for an NCAA Tournament team.
Peete was drafted four times in the MLB Draft. He ultimately opted to play football. On Tuesday, he showed that he’s still got those baseball skills.

Muncy looked peeved after the fact. That might’ve been due to not making the catch as opposed to any potential interference. Peete’s glove appeared to be below Muncy’s. He didn’t stretch his hand out until the very last second.
Peete’s wife further clarified the situation on her Instagram page. While she apologized to the Dodgers‘ infielder for the robbery, she insisted it was a necessary act on the part of her husband.
“Those foul balls were coming at us left and right,” the caption read. “That thing was coming straight for my head!!! My former QB (thrice MLB drafted 3rd baseman) might be retired but what he’s not gonna do is let me get hit. Sorry Max!”

Holly Robinson Peete has been married to Rodney Peete since 1995. She’s an actress that’s starred in shows like 21 Jump Street, Chicago Fire, and Mike & Molly. She says her husband wasn’t going to let the foul ball hit her, even if it meant swiping the catch from Max Muncy.
In the end, the play wouldn’t have much effect on the game. The Dodgers won, 6-3, to take the Tokyo Series over the Cubs.
