Veteran QB Cam Newton was surprisingly cut by the New England Patriots earlier this week and former Pats inebacker Rob Ninkovich has some inside information on the reasoning behind the decision.
According to Ninkovich, “inside sources” from within the Pats’ organization told him that Newton was struggling with the team’s playbook. Apparently, Mac Jones was helping Newton learn the playbook despite the fact that he’s a rookie.

“I got some inside sources but from what I gained…from everything that I understand now, Mac was basically helping Cam learn the playbook, Mac was having less mental errors in having a better understanding in the offense, we didn’t see Cam run any two minute, we didn’t see Cam ran any no huddle.”
