Justin Fields and Russell Wilson both expect to start for the Pittsburgh Steelers this fall. The two veteran signal-callers are in the middle of a quarterback battle that was completely unexpected just six months ago.

They are doing whatever it takes to get ahead!

Wilson, 35, signed with Pittsburgh after failing to regain his form in Denver. Fields, 25, was traded away by Chicago after a career third-year in the NFL because Caleb Williams is a generational talent. The Steelers completely overhauled their quarterback room in a way that nobody could’ve expected. Especially after drafting Kenny Pickett No. 20 overall in 2022!

It is one of the most intriguing storylines of the offseason and upcoming training camp.

As things currently stand, the expectation is that Wilson will begin the year as the starter. Fields is likely going to be the backup for the first time in his career. However, there is a lot of time between now and the start of the regular season in September. There is an opportunity for Fields to beat out Wilson with a flawless showing over the summer. The latter could completely flounder and concede to the former.

Regardless of how things are going to play out in the coming weeks, both guys are in peak shape.

Wilson lost a lot of weight prior to the 2023 season after being called a “sack of potatoes” by Seahawks cornerback Tariq Woolen. It appears as though he put some (or all) of it back on before his first year with the Steelers. He is super beefy and most of it is muscle!

And then there’s Fields. The No. 11 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft has always been strong. Neither weight nor physique were ever a concern.

With that being said, Fields took things up a notch during the offseason. He posted a photo album to Instagram that included a shirtless photo with his father— who looks like he could play fullback.

Both of them are ripped!

Nothing in life is guaranteed. That is especially true in the NFL.

Russell Wilson and Justin Fields went the extra mile to get ready to battle for the starting job!
