Russell Wilson is letting his social media activity do the talking after getting benched by the Broncos.
On Wednesday afternoon, the Broncos announced that they were benching Wilson for the remainder of the season in favor of Jarrett Stidham.
Broncos head coach Sean Payton told the media that while there are financial implications to benching Wilson, the number one reason he did it was to get a “spark offensively” with Stidham at QB.
“Most of you know, we’ve made a change at quarterback. And I understand all the speculation and everything that surrounds a move like that. And I can tell you, Look, we’re, we’re desperately trying to win. And sure, in our game today, there are economics and all those other things. But the number one, push behind this in, it’s a decision I’m making is to, you know, get a spark offensively.”
Wilson is apparently calling B.S. on Payton and has liked several tweets in which he claims he was threatened with getting benched by the Broncos if he didn’t rework his contract.
Wilson also liked several tweets touting his stats after the benching.
According to The Athletic’s Diana Russini Wilson, he expects to be cut in March before his injury guarantees kick in.
Russell Wilson is expecting to be cut by the Denver Broncos in March, per league sources. For almost two months, the quarterback has been starting knowing the organization was most likely going to move on him from after this season.

It’s kind of wild how fast Wilson was pushed out of Denver.
