Ryanne Brubaker continues to dominate high school volleyball in the state of Iowa. The Grundy Center middle blocker is a cheat code.
You quite literally cannot miss her!
Although Brubaker still has a lot of room to improve as a high school volleyball player, her future is very bright. Every single college coach in the country should have the Hawkeye State-native on their radar.
How tall is Ryanne Brubaker?
Brubaker was listed on the roster at 6-foot-7 as sophomore. She primarily came off of the bench but she never failed to make her opponents look silly by tooling a much smaller block.
Now a year later, Ryanne Brubaker serves as the centerpiece of the starting lineup as a junior. The Spartans list her on the roster at 6-foot-8 (and 2/3rds!) in 2025, up more than an inch.
Her height runs in the family.
To put that height in perspective, she would be (tied for) the tallest player on the United States Women’s National Team as a 16-year-old. Only middle blocker Dana Rettke can look her eye-to-eye at 6-foot-8.
Brubaker would be at least two inches taller than all of the other athletes on the team. Some of them are more than 10 years older!
Grundy Center’s high school volleyball team is on fire.
As you could imagine, this kind of height difference proves to be a major advantage for Grundy Center. The Spartans are currently undefeated at 9-0 during the 2025 Iowa high school volleyball season.
They dropped only three sets all season.
Ryanne Brubaker is the biggest catalyst for their success. They set her as often as possible for good reason. She has recorded no less than 80 kills in 25 sets and counting.
That includes TWO separate matches with 19 kills. One against Gladbrook-Reinbeck.
One against AGWSR.
Brubaker also finished with 16 kills against Union Community.
For those who do not know the ins and outs of volleyball, that does not happen often. Ryanne Brubaker is just that dominant.
Here’s the thing. Brubaker is not yet a polished superstar. She could use work on her approach and swing mechanics can always be fine-tuned.
Even with those improvements still to be made, Brubaker is already touching 10-foot-4!!
A women’s volleyball net is set at 7-foot-4 and 1/8th inches. Ryanne Brubaker can reach three feet over the net as a junior in high school. You can’t teach height!
