Earlier this month, Bob Dylan revealed he’d crossed paths with a member of the Buffalo Sabres in an elevator in Prague, and the team seems to believe it’s discovered which player was at the center of that anecdote after conducting a lighthearted investigation.
The first weekend of October was a pretty big one for the city of Prague, as the Buffalo Sabres and the New Jersey Devils headed over to the Czech capital to kick off the NHL season with a two-game series at 02 Arena that coincided with the three-show run Bob Dylan performed at the adjoining O2 universum.
A few days after the final concert wrapped up, Dylan hopped on Twitter to let the world know he had an encounter with an unnamed Sabres player at the hotel they were presumably both staying at and received an invite to the game he had to decline because he was going to be performing.
I ran into one of the Buffalo Sabres in the elevator at the Prague hotel. They were in town to play the New Jersey Devils. He invited me to the game but I was performing that night.

People were naturally curious to know the identity of the player in question, and while we don’t have an entirely definitive answer, a top culprit has been identified.
A member of Buffalo’s social media team decided to dig into the matter by ambushing some members of the team during a practice session in the hopes of determining who met the legendary musician.
A couple of guys pointed the finger at goaltender Devon Levi, while Jacob Bryson hinted Tage Thompson was the one responsible.
Thompson declined to confirm that was the case when he was questioned, but the center cracked a wry smile and said “It could’ve been” after initially suggesting it wasn’t him (the video notes Thompson plays guitar, which makes it hard to believe he doesn’t know what Dylan looks like even though he suggested otherwise).
Mystery solved?
