Sacred Heart University has one of the best college hockey arenas in the entire country and it makes Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys look cheap. The sun glare at AT&T Stadium can be prevented.
There is a solution!
The Pioneers installed self-darkening glass on its state-of-the-art facility to avoid the glare on the ice and/or hardwood. Why would the wealthiest team in the NFL not do the same?
The Dallas Cowboys have a sun problem.
AT&T Stadium is built with the end zones on the east and west sides of the stadium. That becomes a major issue during the late afternoon when the sun starts to set.
There is a large wall of windows on the west side of the stadium, which creates an intense glare.

Not only does the glare have an impact on the viewing experience for fans — at the game and on TV — it has an impact on the players. CeeDee Lamb literally dropped a touchdown because of the sun in 2024.
He said after the game that he could not see the ball at all.

Jerry Jones got feisty with a reporter when he was asked about the infamous glare. The owner of the Cowboys refuses to use the curtains at AT&T Stadium (which already exist!!) to block the sun even though the use of curtains would block the sun. Blocking the sun would help to minimize the glare. A lack of glare would not prevent his own wide receivers from catching a touchdown pass.
Jones is actively hurting his own team. It’s truly ridiculous.
Sacred Heart University installed self-darkening glass.
Not long after Lamb dropped the touchdown, Jones sarcastically quipped about a solution.
“Well let’s tear the damn stadium down and build another one? Are you kidding me?”
That will not be necessary because Sacred Heart University has the solution.
The Martire Family Arena officially opened in 2023 on the campus in Connecticut at a cost of $70 million. It is the premier facility in college hockey.
The 122,580-square-foot building could not be any nicer.
Even though it is completely surrounded by windows with a great view of the fall foliage in Connecticut, the Martire Family Arena does not have a sun problem like AT&T Stadium. The west-facing wall of windows are able to self-darken to eliminate the glare.
It’s like a transition lens, but for hockey.
Jerry Jones may not know this kind of glass exists. Somebody should tell him. The wealthiest team in football has the money to install a new set of self-darkening windows. The glare would no longer be an issue and the solution would not require curtains!
